Day 52 – Black and White Lighthouse
Big skies, snowy beach, lots of contrast…we should check that out in Black and White! I used a red filter to help bring some contrast to the lighthouse. Again, Angel shot this with the super wide 10-20mm on the T4i. I enhanced it a bit with Silver Efex.
Day 50 – Harbor Sky
Harbor Sky, shot in the Kenosha Harbor a bit upstream from the Island Bridge. This area shows the river completely frozen over, the boats wrapped up tight, a few seagulls and Canadian geese in the distance. Shot with my wife’s Canon T4i w/10-20mm Sigma lens. Yes, we use a circular polarizer to get that sky! Amazing stuff!
Day 49 – Junkyard Classics
I love Silver Efex Pro software! I took my favorite junkyard classic cars shot that Angel took and tweaked it with Silver Efex to create an antique paper look. I love it! Below is the same shot in color without the tweak.
This last one caught my eye as the light landed on them a little different and the snow really adds a fun look covering the windshields!
Day 48 – Kenosha Lighthouse
Our destination today was Kenosha. We got to see Ian Kanack win the 1600, pretty cool! Plus we got to visit the Kenosha harbor and enjoy a beautiful Wisconsin day!
Got to play with this one a bit more than usual, I set up the 5D Mark III for 7 shot bracket and Angel shot this one. A quick edit in Lightroom followed by a visit to HDR Efex Pro results in this cool HDR image!
Day 30 – Mallards in love
This Mallard Couple is enjoying a little break on the ice in the Milwaukee Harbor.
Day 8 – The Milwaukee River Railroad Bridge
This swing bridge is an awesome site in the middle of the Milwaukee River. Visible from Riverfront Pizzeria or from Water Street on the south side, it is a fantastic subject. Almost lost my cap from Ireland as the winds whipped through Bob’s Boat Landing. Fortunately a barbwire fence caught it. I love the steam on the river and the brave ducks in the water!
As you can see, I didn’t do just one photo today. I can’t decide if I like the black and white or the color better. I touched up the BW with Nik Efex Pro.
Day 7 – The Polar Vortex Continues…
Check out the Hoan Bridge spanning over the lighthouse in Milwaukee Harbor. There was a police officer parked about 20 feet from here, they always seem to know the best spots. -15 degrees and -40 windchills reported!
